Power generation decreased by 8.2% in the first two months of this year

China's absolute power generation in January-February of 2020 was 1026.7 billion kilowatt-hours, down 8.2% from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said on March 16th.
Among them, China's absolute thermal power generation was 780.7 billion KWH, down by 8.9% year-on-year. Absolute hydropower generation was 121.4 billion KWH, down 11.9% year on year. Nuclear power generation was 47.3 billion KWH, down 2.2% year on year. Absolute wind power generation was 59.4 billion KWH, down 0.2% year on year. Solar power generated 17.9 billion kilowatt-hours in absolute terms, up 12% from a year earlier.
On a month-on-month basis, electricity generation in China increased by 65.4 billion KWH in December, up by 11.10%. Thermal power generation increased by 75.7 billion KWH, up by 17.50%; Hydropower generation decreased by 13.3 billion KWH, down by 16.22%; Nuclear power generation increased by 700 million KWH, up by 2.15%; Wind power generation increased by 2.5 billion KWH, or 7.49%. Solar power generation was flat.
In January-February of 2020, the country generated 17.11 billion KWH of electricity per day, down 8.2% year on year.
