According to the information released by Shanxi Provincial Bureau of Coal Mine Security and Supervision, there are 988 coal mines (wells) under the jurisdiction of Shanxi Province, among which 571 are coal mines (wells) belonging to provincial and central enterprises, 147 are coal mines (wells) belonging to municipal enterprises and 270 are other coal mines (wells). Among them, 49 new mines were built and 273 were rebuilt and expanded, accounting for 32.59% of the total coal mines (wells).
 
From January to November, a total of 986 mines were monitored throughout the system, covering 99.8 percent of the total. Ordering 88 coal mines (wells) to stop production and rectify.
 
From January to November, a total of 19 coal mine safety accidents occurred in the province, killing 47 people, 6 fewer than the same period of last year and down 24%, and the death toll increased by 20, up 74.07% year-on-year.
