According to the latest data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on March 16, China's raw coal output in the January-February period of 2020 was 489.03 million tons, down 6.3% year-on-year. From January to February, the average daily raw coal output was 8.15 million tons, down 6.3% year on year.
After this year's Spring Festival holiday, due to the epidemic, the resumption of coal production across the country has been delayed, and the resumption of coal production has not reached full capacity, resulting in a slow increase in supply.
In recent days, with the overall improvement of the situation of the epidemic in the country, the process of the resumption of coal production in major coal-producing areas has been accelerated, and the coal supply in the coal-producing areas has increased significantly, thus restraining the continuous rise of the coal price in the coal-producing areas.
In the later period, under the circumstance that the coal production in the coal-producing area steps into the normal stage, it is expected that the national raw coal output will continue to increase.
The pace of approval for new construction, renovation and expansion projects was quickened, with 83 percent of the newly approved projects' production capacity distributed in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia, and 73 percent in thermal coal.
