Coal import by category in November

According to the latest data released by the General Administration of Customs, in November of 2019, Chinaimported 7.47 million tons of thermal coal (including bituminous and sub-bituminous coal, but excluding lignite, the same below), which was the same as the same period of last year and decreasing 4.06 million tons or 35.21% from October. From January to November of 2019, thermal coal imports totaled 11.453 million tons, up 5.2 million tons or 4.76% year-on-year.
In November of 2019, China imported 6.69 million tons of lignite, up 9.8 percent year-on-year and down 1.43 million tons or 17.61% month-on-month. From January to November of 2019, imports of lignite totaled 102.63 million tons, up 12% year-on-year.
In November of 2019, China imported 440,000 tons of anthracite, down 49.5 percent year on year and up 100,000 tons or 29.41% month on month. From January to November of 2019, imports of anthracite totaled 7.06 million tons, down 18.6% year on year. In addition, 220,000 tons of anthracite was exported in November of 2019, up 71.2% year-on-year. Total exports of anthracite from January to November totaled 800,000 tons, up 15.2% year on year.
In November of 2019, China imported 6.18 million tons of coking coal, up 16% year on year and 480,000 tons or 8.42%month-on-month. From January to November of 2019, imports of coking coal totaled 72.8 million tons, up 17% year-on-year. In addition, 70,000 tons of coking coal was exported in November of 2019, down 65.8 percent year-on-year. Exports of coking coal totaled 1.28 million tons from January to November, up 22% year on year.
