China's coal prices were overall flat last week: MOC

According to Ministry of Commerce (MOC), China's coal prices were overall flat last week (December 9th- December 15th). Among them, the prices of thermal coal were 583 Yuan/mt, the same with previous week; the prices of anthracite were 896 Yuan/mt, up 0.1% compared with previous week; and the prices of coking coal were 773 Yuan/mt, the same with previous week. The inventory of downstream power plants is relatively high, and the coal prices are expected to fluctuate slightly in the later period.
China's steel prices edged down slightly last week. Among them, the prices of high speed wire rod, deformed steel bar and channel steel were 4,114 Yuan/mt, 4,055 Yuan/mt, and 4,094 Yuan/mt respectively, down 0.6%, 0.6% and 0.2% respectively compared with previous week. Steel demand declines seasonally, steel prices are expected to be weak in the late run.
